Research Assistant


Position: Research Assistant (Voluntary)

Purpose: Research Assistants support WebRoots Democracy’s (WRD) Chief Executive with policy research and report-writing around digital democracy.

Location: Research Assistants work remotely and may be required to attend occasional team meetings or policy roundtables at TechHub, Shoreditch.

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide assistance with the organisation of policy roundtables and focus groups.
  • To provide assistance with freedom of information requests.
  • To provide assistance with report writing.
  • To occasionally attend and contribute to WRD team meetings.
  • To promote WRD research and events via social media.

Responsible to: Areeq Chowdhury, Chief Executive

Length of appointment: All WRD volunteers are appointed for a period of three months. After three months, the volunteer may be reappointed for another three months at the discretion of the Chief Executive. This process continues at the end of each three month period.

Time commitment: Volunteers are expected to contribute around three to four hours a week, however this may differ on occasion, e.g. with events. In addition, they will be expected to occasionally attend team meetings at TechHub, Shoreditch.

Qualifications: Knowledge of UK politics, and ideally previous experience (academic or work) of research methods and report writing. All WRD volunteers will ideally meet our three values of positivity, self-motivation, and changemaking.

Support: Training will be provided by the Chief Executive who will also be available for questions and assistance.
