Position: Research and Administration Intern

Purpose: The Research and Administration Intern supports WebRoots Democracy’s (WRD) Chief Executive with research, business planning, and administrative tasks.

Location: The Research and Administration Intern works two days a week at TechHub, Shoreditch and may be required to attend occasional evening team meetings, roundtables, and events.

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide assistance with research and report-writing.
  • To provide assistance with business planning, fundraising, and grant applications.
  • To manage the WRD newsletter.
  • To assist with policy roundtables, focus groups, and public events.
  • To assist with WRD social media channels.
  • To attend and contribute to WRD team meetings.
  • To promote WRD research and events via social media.

Responsible to: Areeq Chowdhury, Chief Executive

Length of appointment: The Research and Administration Intern will be appointed for a period of three months. After three months, the internship may be renewed for another three months at the discretion of the Chief Executive.

Time commitment: Interns are expected to commit two days a week, 9.30am til 5.30pm, however this may differ on occasion, e.g. with events. In addition, they will be expected to attend fortnightly team meetings at TechHub, Shoreditch.

Qualifications: Knowledge of UK politics, and ideally previous experience (academic, work, or extra-curricular) of research, report writing, and campaigning. It is not necessary to hold a university degree. All WRD volunteers, interns, and staff will ideally meet our three values of positivity, self-motivation, and changemaking.

Support: Training will be provided by the Chief Executive who will also be available for questions and assistance. The role is unpaid, however lunch and travel expenses will be provided each week.
